Park Avenue Streetscape

Project Overview

In accordance with the Lake Wales Connected Plan, the Park Avenue Streetscape project focuses on converting an existing over-sized one-way lane to two right-sized lanes. Existing diagonal spaces will become parallel spaces in order to make room for a wider, curbless sidewalk with street trees. The existing use of public space on Park Avenue is 40% people space and 60% vehicle space, the new design features 67% people space and 33% vehicle space.

Key features of the design include:
  • Curbless Design
  • Conversion of angled parking spots to parallel parking spots
  • Implementation of shade trees on the north side of Park Avenue to provide maximum shade throughout the day
  • Hanging flower baskets from streetlights
  • Two-way traffic on Park Avenue to improve mobility
